Mihalis Safras - La Samba Di Chicos [ remix pack ]

Mihalis Safras (Material Series labelowner) is one of the most accredited DJ/producers worldwide and without doubt the top greek techno/minimal producer. (DJ MAG 245) Mihalis has built up a massive following with his DJ sets and production work throughout his career and has already started making waves on the international techno circuit. He is concidered to be as one of the most productive producers in techno.Born in Athens, he started experimenting with music at the age of 12, when he studied the piano. He quickly became interested in electronic music and started using new music technology to create his own tracks. Initiated early into the restless music scene of the end of the 90s, Mihalis’ career started in 1997 when he landed a residency at Berlin Club, one of Greece’s most notorious venues. During that period, he had been mainly mixing house but by the end of the decade, had changed his style to techno and techouse. In 2000 Mihalis started experimenting with the harder side of the dance scene and introduced Greek clubbers to the techno sounds of Detroit’s percussive rhythms. His first major gig was at the well-known SolaLuna Festival, where he was on the bill next to world’s biggest names in techno. This appearance led to countless residencies at all major Greek clubs including Venue, Mad, Danza, Miroir, Luv and many more. Soon he landed the headlining slot at the legendary club, Umatic (Plusmatic) where he built a huge fan base that led to his nomination as best Greek techno DJ in 2005 by Klik Magazine.

John Digweed & Nick Muir - Meteor | Satellite (Maetrik Heavy and Christian Smith Remixes)

Sneak previews of elements of ‘Satellite’ appeared on the new ‘Structures’ LP, where John utilized a breakdown FX version in his mix finale. The full original version was then unleashed in its own right as a single, along with counterpart ‘Meteor’, gaining big support from the like of Carl Cox, Fergie, Desyn Masiello, Hernan Cattaneo, Anderson Noise, Sasha, and many more. Now, just when you thought you could sit down for a rest, ‘Satellite’ has received some superb heavy-duty treatment in the remix department from the highly exciting Maetrik, and a top notch big room makeover from Tronic main man, Christian Smith.Maetrik shows exactly why he’s such an exciting prospect with a stunning low-slung seriously heavy-duty groove that can’t fail to impress. Originally from the USA and now relocated to Valencia Spain, Maetrik (aka Eric Estornel) is making incredible leaps and bounds, creating some of the most devastating and unique music right now with his unique blend of techno, house, funk, and electro. Maybe it’s down to his Cuban roots? Maybe it’s down to his desire to crush genre boundaries? Whatever the reason, John Digweed has made a smart creative call by letting him loose on ‘Satellite’!The big room vibes are most definitely flowing with Christian Smith’s remix of ‘Satellite’, as he weaves and winds together over ten minutes of epic genre blurring wonder. Mr Smith has been championing his essentially funky mix of house and techno for more than a decade now, creating a highly individual cauldron of chunky grooves with loads of energy. With his own Tronic label releasing some fine fare right now, its no wonder that he was feeling inspired to deliver this superb version of ‘Satellite’.Between them, John Digweed and Nick Muir, producers of the finest electronic dance music, have been involved in many pivotal moments in the world of club music and have in many ways helped to define genres & push the boundaries further over the years. As with all their releases, ‘Satellite’ / ‘Meteor’ is a mission statement to show that they are not resting on past laurels but always developing their sound in an exciting direction. These remixes of ‘Satellite’ only add fuel to the creative fire.

Johan Gielen Vs. Tetsuya - Mirage | Skyscraper ( Original Mixes )

For this new release, Johan Gielen joined forces with the well known Japanese DJ/Producer Tetsuya. Tetsuya is the resident DJ at Tokyo's most famous and precious club called "Velfarre". Johan Gielen was resident in the club from 1995 to 1997 and built a strong friendship with Tetsuya. After more than 15 years, their bond is stronger than ever. The plan to produce an EP together was made a while ago and last month Johan Gielen went to Japan for a week to meet up with Tetsuya for the Skyscraper EP sessions. After a few days and nights of hard work in Tetsuya's studio in Tokyo the two DJ/producers delivered the titles that now feature in this promo. One thing is clear: for this EP Johan Gielen steps away from his trance aura and presents two titles that are definitely clubby and funky, with a strong progressive feel to it. It already begins when "Skyscraper" kicks in. The beats are supported by a fabulous bass line that creates an infectious, big city groove. For those behind the decks, it will only be a logical step to continue their live mix with the second track from the EP, called "Mirage". Once again we enjoy crisp beats over a fat bass line, but this time there's definitely more of a progressive sound going on. Subtly the track moves towards a superb hands in the air break with some lovely synth hammering, only to continue with even more power. Johan Gielen once again surprises friend and foe with another floor filler, so make sure to add this one to your track list!
