Gilles Bellac, aka Jill Bellac, started delving into electronic music very early on. A former chemistry lab assistant, he was influenced by acts like Prodigy and Chemical Brothers. Before he was old enough to enter clubs, he would wear his headphones through the night listening to live radio broadcasts of DJ sets. His absolute favorite DJs were and still are Carl Cox, Deep Dish, Sven Väth, Richi Hawtin, Timo Maas, and a host of others.Even in those days, all that Jill ever wanted to be was a musician. His obsession for music caused him to drop out of many vocational training programs, finally ending up at the School of Audio Engineering (SEA) in Zurich.“I learned a lot at SEA. But the best period of my education was the time I spent in the studio with Simon Schwendener (Freakulizer/Khainz). That’s something I still do today. There’s nothing like hanging around a pro and creating techno!”
