Alex Long – Caraga EP

Since he was young, he has always been impressed by the sounds of the synths, electro pop and later on acid house. In the beginning of the 90ies, when the slovenian electronic scene was still in the making, he has been a reagular guest in the legendary K4 and Palma. He was taken further into the world of dj-ing by Dj Jaka, who taught him his first steps behind the turntables and he has been producing music since 2004. Since then, he has has quite a few releases and remixes for different record labels and his music was included in Adam Beyer..s mix compilation. He has dj gigs with huge names of the electronic scene and in large festivals in Slovenia and became the official Hero of the future in 2007 at the Disconautica festival. He was honored to be invited on his first slovenian 1605 tour THE YOUNG BLOOD OF THE TRIBE with Dj Umek.He spends much of his time in his studio, where his thoughts are converted into notes and melodies, and as he often states, he finally found a style that suits him and always finds a challenge in. Alex Long is definately a name we will hear of in the future!

Homm & Popoviciu - Crush | Hank | Yaca [ EP ]

In the 90’s fans of electronic music often had to party literally underground: Abandoned factory basements or empty subway shafts were the scene of the most exciting, and illegal, techno events. Anyone who wants to bringback the feeling of those times should be right into “Could Crush” from production duo “Homm & Popviciu. From the first track, “Crush“ spreads just the right mix of nervousness and tense, fidgety anticipation: Pulsating beats seem to lead you to a secret location, before a dark voice announces your arrival into rhythm nirvana. With “Hank“ the sweaty mass of dancers will reach the climax of their beat induced trance, before “Yaca“ eventually allows them to change tempo and take a breather that penetrates deep down to the bone. “Could Crush” is typical of the Romanian-German duo Homm & Popoviciu, made up of experienced producers Markus Homm and Mihai Popoviciu: Tracks with a light ‘easy-going’ atmosphere building the way towards hypnotic and concentrated pressure. Minimal purism meets the dirty Detroit sound. “Could Crush”? With Homm & Popoviciu, it may just do that!

As usual techno/minimal style. The son of two professional musicians, for 10 years Sébastien attended the academy of music learning technique and musical theory on piano and drums. Ellen Allien – Clash Music Podcast – 26.05.2010

Ellen Allien is on the go: as a dj, producer, label owner and fashion producer she is not only crossing medias, but rather tries connecting all available genres in independent culture. The Berlin based whirlwind has started her profession in the late 90ies, shortly after the wall came down. But her passion for music started a long time before in her childhood: teaching herself how to read notes and a jukebox with a collection of singles in her room. As a kid she idolized David Bowie. Not surprisingly, Ellen Allien is probably the closest person techno boasts to Bowie–an ambitious innovator and powerhouse; she shapeshifts nearly as often as she packs a crate of twelves and jumps on a red-eye. She also tries to become visually unique: her album covers depict a fierce, intelligent lady lording over imaginary computer landscapes, and they’re often analogies for what’s going on inside. Meanwhile she has released her fourth solo album Sool (BPC175) in May 2008 and a new one will be relesed in May 2010. In sum with the previous ones, Thrills, Berlinette, and Stadtkind, this shows not only a remarkable musically development Ellen Allien has gained within the last seven years, but also her ability of keeping the threads together. Le fils rouge is still Berlin for her, even when global living and the precarious nature of our planet and life influence her in general.

Dan Curtin, Miss Jools, Benna @ Harry Klein 23.05.2010

Dan Curtin’s fascination with music was sparked when he discovered East Coast hip-hop while still in primary school. Hip-hop, along with new wave, electro, and other sonic innovations of the Eighties began to loom large in his life, and it was only a matter of time before Curtin began experimenting with music creation himself. When he finally heard the futuristic sounds of house and techno, everything changed and music production became Curtin's primary focus from his home studio in Cleveland, OH. Cleveland, a city not known as a hub for electronic music creation, was initially isolating. However, Curtin was able to observe the more prominent scenes of other cities like Detroit and Chicago without becoming part of or identified with any one of them. He began designing a new sound in techno and house music.Curtin's first few records were released on Detroit's 33 RPM Records and Belgium's Buzz Records. Shortly thereafter, he started his own label, Metamorphic Recordings. Dancers and listeners alike began to take notice of his innovative sound signature, and before long Dan Curtin found himself being hailed as a key player in techno and house music. With his profile on the rise, he eventually caught the attention of labels diverse as New York's legendary Strictly Rhythm, and England's Peacefrog Records.

Miss Jools officially launched her career in the music industry in 1995 after a series of DJ gigs around London landed her a radio spot on London’s underground radio station, “Girls FM.” Miss Jools was able to freely exercise her musical tastes and choices twice a week on the radio show: her hand-picked vinyl selections were inspired by assorted techno and house pioneers of the early nineties. With an ear for flourishing technological advancements, flowing trends, and ongoing changes in the electronic music scene, her career began to amplify to extraordinary heights.

Always on the look for new sounds and determined to challenge every existing cliché in music industry, he managed to define his own vision of vanguard techno. Sure, this would not happen without the support of his loyal peers who’ve joined him on the production platforms such as Recycled Loops, Consumer Recreation and Astrodisco, with which they defined “Slovenian techno sound” and successfully invested it as an important driving force on the global club scene.
In the beginning of the year 2007, Umek started a new 1605 Music Therapy - Sixteenofive, with which he marked the beginning of the second era of his music creation and what an era it is. 5 highly popular releases on the 1605 label with lots more planned in the next few months, a huge success of the »Day Of Electronics 09« - the main 1605 event in Krizanke (Ljubljana, Slovenia) for the third year in a row, a popular summer festival »Disconautica« (Koper, Slovenia) featuring 1605 Main Floor for the second year in a row and with over 50.000 attending people. Valentino Kanzyani – Ministry Of Sound Promo Mix – 21.05.2010

The undisputed king of Slovenian underground electronica. If you're not a newby in the never ending game of beatmatching and scratching, you probably know Valentino doesn't really understand the meaning of words limit, border and purism. He is one of the founding fathers of Slovenian techno, but that has never really stopped him to throw one of his gourmet house sets. Or anything in between that he found fresh at the time.

After a decade of creative symbiotic with his fellow countrymen Umek, with whom he founded labels Recycled Loops and Earreistible Musick, the two discovered they’ve grown apart, shook hands and concentrated on new music ventures each on their own. After a series of big releases on labels such as Primevil, Yoshitoshi (Flying), Intec (House Soul EP), Wet Musik, Tronic (Burros Eslovenos) and Primate Kanzyani decided it is time to take a break. He spent the summer in Ibiza where he, as many other artists before him, found his new muse.

He gathered flock of fresh artists under the Jesus Loved You ensign and now leads them back to the essence of clubbing debauchery. In this honorable cause he’s heavily supported by fellow artists - who after all this years in business and hundred thousands of flown miles still consider Kanzyani one of the most passionate and fresh sounding electronic artists on the Globe.
