Born in France, Stephan grew up fascinated by music and electronics as he watched his father DJ'ing in local clubs in the 1970's. He moved to New-York in 1985, where he witnessed the birth of house music and played early for clubs like Nell's and Tunnel. Opting for a college education, he kept his D.J. activities strictly as a hobbie. After finishing college with a Finance degree in 1992, Stephan tried his hand at several trades, including advertising, restaurant management and international trade. In 1997 he was spotted DJ'ing at one of the restaurants he was managing and was offered a residency at a newly opened New-York nightclub called Chaos. A few days later he quit his daily managerial duties and embarked into the crazy life of the DJ
