Boozoo Bajou, Marc Hughes – In Session 06-01-2010

During 2003 and 2004 the BOOZOOs played a vast range of live DJ shows: With Cinematic Orchestra in Berlin, at Vienna’s Dub Club, in Moscow and Lisbon, to just name a few. Two USA tours included Coachella Festival. In between they did a few more remixes, this time for artists who had been long time heroes and a source of inspiration to BOOZOO BAJOU: Tony Joe White, Henry Manchini and Pharoah Sanders. After two years of studio work, their second album “DUST MY BROOM” was released on !K7 records in August 2005. It featured eleven new tracks with vocal contributions by Tony Joe White, Willie Hutch, Joe Dukie, Ben Weaver and Top Cat. The accompanying single “Killer” featured remixes by King Britt, the 2nd single release “Take It Slow” (feat.Joe Dukie) was remixed by Seiji and Mousse T. Their successful career now hits another highlight with the release of the second volume of the “JUKE JOINT” mix compilation. “JUKE JOINT 2” features the Boozoo Bajou remix of Tony Joe White´s legendary “Rainy Night In Georgia”, a yet unreleased mix of Gecko Turner, as well as the new tracks “Back Up” (featuring Stones Throw artist and Madlib brother Oh No on the mic) and “Pflug”.
The elegantly mixed CD furthermore features tracks by Nicole Willis, The Meters, Mark Rae, John Holt, Hanne Hukkelberg, Alice Russel amongst others, illustrating Boozoo Bajou´s musical preferences ranging from soul to dub, jazz to funk, and rap to folk – an entire kaleidoscope of soulful music.
