Nick Galea’s not just a DJ and he’s not just a producer, he’s a brand name, and one that continues to run simultaneously with success as his career continues to flourish.
Galea’s credentials from 2010 alone speak loudly about an artist who is widely recognised as one of hottest acts to emerge from the Australian dance scene in recent times.
His popular remix of Dizzee Rascal’s “Dirtee Cash” peaked at #3 on the ARIA Club Charts and found itself on the Ministry of Sound: Clubbers Guide to 2010.Galea’s timeless bootleg of Bjork’s “Hyperballad” has been supported by the best DJ’s in the world, including David Guetta, James Zabiela, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo and Fedde Le Grand.
Then there’s his critically-acclaimed remix of Chris Sorbello’s “So Lonely”, which reached #7 on the ARIA Club Charts and has been included on Ministry of Sound’s Sessions 7 compilation, due out in May 2010.
Also included on the Sessions 7 disk is Galea’s remix of Jump Jump Dance’s “Show me the Night”, which is currently receiving heavy support from Australia’s best DJ’s.
Whilst these achievements alone kept Galea at the forefront of the Australian scene, people often wondered when an original release of Galea’s would inevitably catapult his profile further.
Their questions were answered when Galea released the universal house single known as “I Believe” in late March 2010 – and the reactions so far have been colossal.
“I Believe”, which can be heard on Onelove’s Sound Machine 2010 CD and the Raw compilation, has stormed up the ARIA Club Charts to #3 and looks set to rise again following the addition of a heavily-anticipated updated remix package.
In addition, just four weeks after being released on promo, “I Believe” has already been put on high-rotation on proud dance music radio station Switch 11 97 and added to playlists on Fresh FM (South Australia), Wild Weekends (Queensland), Revolution Radio, Ministry of Sound Radio and Nova Nation Digital Radio.
